Gantry Cranes
Handle Your Heavy Loads with Precision Using Modern Trading Gantry Cranes
Modern Trading Gantry Crane Models
- Modern Trading’s electric gantry cranes feature a double-speed capability powered by a dual-speed electric motor, enhanced by a frequency inverter for precise control. Motor drivers, specifically frequency inverters, ensure smooth start-and-stop operations and maintain load safety.
- Our electric motor and reducer assemblies, custom-engineered for industrial gantry cranes, offer soft starts and stops, impact-free operation, and extended service life. The brakes are high-torque, spring-loaded negative brakes, providing twice the torque of the maximum capacity.
- The gantry end carriages are equipped with wheel blocks made from GGG50 material, precisely machined with advanced technology for durability and high-speed performance. The wheel hub is driven by a multi-wedge system to minimize wear on both the wheel hub and drive shaft.
- Remote control functionality is enabled via radio frequency technology, and overload protection is ensured with loadcells. All steel materials used are DIN EN 10204 3.1 certified.
- Our overhead travelling cranes feature double-speed operation with a dual-speed electric motor and frequency inverter for enhanced sensitivity. Motor drivers, namely frequency inverters, provide precise stop-and-start sensitivity and ensure load safety.
- High-torque, spring-loaded negative brakes are employed, delivering twice the torque compared to the maximum capacity. EOT crane end carriages use GGG50 material wheel blocks, processed with cutting-edge technology for longevity and high-speed capabilities. The wheel hub is driven by a multi-wedge system, reducing wear on both the wheel hub and drive shaft.
- Remote control is facilitated by radio frequency technology, with loadcells providing overload protection. All steel materials used are DIN EN 10204 3.1 certified.
- We use certified quality sheets for our gantry crane production, with welds on bridge girders inspected using non-destructive methods and dimensions checked to TS-EN-1090 tolerances. External welds on bridge beams are performed with submerged arc welding robots.
- We offer specialized primer and paint applications based on working conditions, with options for corrosion protection and custom colors as requested by customers. Control options include push buttons along the beam, remote control, or cabin operation.
- Our gantry cranes can feature single or double line C profile cable trolley systems for the current receiving festoon line, or I profile systems for heavy conditions. Electrical installations include over-wire, closed busbar, or C profile cable trolley systems.
- All Modern Trading gantry cranes are designed in accordance with occupational health and safety standards. Each crane includes a maintenance platform and deck ladders for safe access during maintenance and repair.
- Movement limiting switches are employed in all directions, including rotary limit switches for crane lowering and lifting, and cross limit switches for crane trolley and bridge travel. All limit switches feature a double-stage slow-down and stop logic.
- Shock-absorbing plastic wedges are used at the crane travelling gear ends. Standard protection units include overload protection, residual current relay, PTC thermistor, collision sensor, emergency stop button, and audible/light warning siren.
- User manuals, electrical diagrams, and operating instructions for all electrical and electronic components are provided in the crane’s electrical panel.

What is a Gantry Crane?
A gantry crane, also known as a portal crane, is a crane model characterized by its self-supporting legs. The bridge beams are mounted on these legs, allowing it to operate independently without requiring additional support structures. Gantry cranes are predominantly used in open areas and are common in sectors such as shipyards, harbors, mining, and machinery manufacturing. However, their versatility makes them suitable for any application involving the lifting and transportation of heavy loads.
Gantry cranes operate on the same principle as overhead cranes but are distinguished by their own legs, eliminating the need for supplementary construction support. This design feature makes them ideal for open areas and is also advantageous in enclosed spaces where placing additional loads on building structures is undesirable or where the lifting requirements exceed the capacity of existing supports.
These cranes can achieve mobility in up to three directions: they move along rails on the ground, travel horizontally on their own gantry, and lift loads via a hoist.
Components of a Gantry Crane
A typical electric gantry crane system consists of six essential components:
- Girders: These form the structural framework of the crane.
- Gantry Legs: Support the bridge beams and provide stability.
- Hoist: Facilitates the lifting of loads.
- Rails: Provides the ground connection for the crane’s movement and ensures it remains on its designated path.
- End Carriages: Motors that enable movement along the rails.
Manufacturing Time for Industrial Gantry Cranes
Industrial gantry cranes are custom-designed to meet specific site characteristics and operational requirements. Due to the bespoke nature of these cranes, manufacturing times can vary based on the project’s complexity and details.
The process begins with a needs analysis and project design phase. Once project approval is received, manufacturing commences. The duration of the manufacturing process depends on the intricacies of the project.
At Modern Trading, we prioritize delivering efficient solutions during both the project design and manufacturing stages. For precise information regarding manufacturing times, please contact us.
Gantry Crane Pricing
